What Is This Lump On The Left Side On Upper Ribs Below The Breast That Is Growing ?

I have a lump on my left side on my upper ribs below my breast more towards my back like under my arm pit. It started as a little lump and has grown to the size of a half dollar now. I went to the Dr in Texas and they wanted to run a ct scan but my insurance wouldn t cover it. What are the possibilities?

If you have a lump anywhere near your breast and it is growing, it MUST be evaluated. Most likely, it is a benign process like a cyst or fibroadenoma or something similar that is not a big problem. However, the chance of cancer always exists, so you really need to have it checked out. Ask your doctor to dispute the insurance decision not to cover the CT scan, there is no reason why it should not be covered. Sometimes, you can have an ultrasound or mammogram instead, but that decision needs to be made by your doctor and it depends upon the circumstances. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions.
