What Is The Use Of Amniocentesis Test ?

I am of 35 years 6months 24 weeks from the date of conceive my second child, my health parameters normal as of now do i need to go for this amniocentesis test? age 35years,6monts:84kgs: Doctor says if my wife was of 35 he would have done this tests ! What does this mean in your terminology!

Pregnancy At the age more than 35 years we called elderly pregnant ,in which chances of Down syndrome and chromosomal malformations are slightly more .But if level 2 or 3 ultrasound is normal & blood for triple markers is normal .there don`t appear to be nay need for amniocentesis .It is an invasive test in which liquor around the fetus is aspirated through syringe & than tested.Consult some genetic councilor before going for it.if it can be avoided or not.
