Hello! An effort induced increase in heart rate and shortness of breath can be due to something as straightforward as 'fitness or stamina issue' or may indicate an
underlying heart or lung disorder. Low hemoglobin(Hb) may also be a reason. Do get his Hb checked. An ECG,Echocardiogram and lung function tests are indicated
along with a thorough physical examination by a physician. All the best!
