What Is The Treatment For The Sores On The Legs?

Hello: I believe I have a case of demodex, but am also experiencing some other odd sores on my legs. Not many, but they scab over and have a dark spot in the middle and look like they are in-line with each other. I thought at first it might be scabies, but there are only a few cases on my lower leg. Any idea what this could be? I m now parasite-paranoid because of the demodex. Also...I was tested positives. Thanks for your help.

Hello,

You have history of suffering from Demodex mite infection. Presently, you are having sores on your legs. To prevent further infection, you should take care of your hygiene. Wash the sores thoroughly with running water and anti-microbial soap. If you have open sores, visit ER, get antiseptic dressing done. You can take a course of Augmentin or metronidazole to help faster healing. Get antiseptic dressing done every alternate day. Do not pop, touch or scratch.

Control your blood glucose level so that the wound does not take long to heal. Limit your intake of carbohydrate. Applying topically permethrin or benzyl benzoate may help, but if the sores are open do not apply it. Get examined by a dermatologist. Do not share your toiletries & wash your clothes frequently in hot water.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
