My husband is experiencing problems with swollen feet, ankles painful, fever, sensitivity on the bottom of his foot when he puts pressure on it. His doctor is treating him for gout, and for bad flare ups, he is on prednisone and Colcrys. His doctor has him on Allopurinol 300mg daily. In the past two weeks, he has had two attacks--this week it is affecting his foot, last week he had problems with his left arm swelling up and painful. On July 20, he went to the emergency room because his arm was so swollen and painful. The doctor had lab works done that showed his uric acid level at 5.3. The doctor treated him for gout. An ultrasound was preformed and determined that he did not have problems with blood clots. Jim (my husband) is also on high blood pressure. He is also seeing a renal specialist once a year for kidney disease. The emergency room doctor recommended that he go so a rheumatologist. His age is 55, he weighs approx. 260 lbs, he is a mild beer and wine drinker. We don t know if it is gout, pseudo-gout, or something else. Please give us your opinion. Diane
