What Is The Treatment For Scab Formation?

My husband has a small patch on his outer ear which he s had for a few months (2-3)...it forms a scab, comes off easily and then scabs up again. We ve put vaseline on it. And lately Bacitracin. It still oozes just a little, and forms a new scab. What might it be and how can we treat it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a skin infection. I recommend to use warm compresses to help the pus come out. I also suggest to clean the area with hydrogen peroxide and cover it with antibiotic cream such as Neosporin cream.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
