What Is The Treatment For Persistent Headaches?

My daughter has been having severe headaches for almost 2 years; tests have shown empty cella & she was told there were a couple of spots of white matter on the brain. It was explained (in non-medical terminology) that when she has the headaches, the brain is essentially, swelling. It has now reached a point where it has effected her in many ways; her energy level (extremely tired), vision, personality change, unable to keep up with her job functions, etc. She was referred to Mayo in Rochester. She saw an Endocrinologist first; then she saw a Neurologist (the specialist in her type of problem was not available even though she had an appointment and had traveled to get there!), who did not seem concerned about the white matter - we all have some. OK. Quick field test and here s a RX! The Dr. would not be available for another week but take this in the meantime and I ll be in touch next week....... My daughter was so frustrated!!!! Granted, and this is big - all medical records made it there in time EXCEPT the films!!! They checked and the films were sent out to the right address, etc. They have been re-requested 2x now by both Dr s........ ANY insight to ANY OF THIS??????

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

This likely migraine headache. These bright objects are sometimes called UBO. If she has headaches and also recurrent oral ulcers or genital ulcers than one differential will be vasculitis, which can be confirmed on labs. For the time being please use the following. Tab. Hitop and Tab. Tryptanol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. HIKMATULLAH,
Neurologist
