Hi, I had ipl hair removal a week ago, the person carrying it out went over my mole, the mole was hurting and became red and over the week started to peel off slowly, however now a huge chunk of the centre of the mole has fallen off, and the skin beneath is bleeding and hurting?

Hi,

Shaving or cutting the mole accidentally will not cause any harm but can result in scarring. Also if it is not done in hospital under aseptic precautions, there is higher chances of infection. Most of the moles are harmless and they do not require any treatment. The history says bleeding is there. So I would advice you to

1. Stop the bleeding from the mole with a sterile dressing and applying firm pressure on the wounded area.

2. To consult a dermatologist to look for the nature of the mole & for examination of the wound to rule out cancerous nature of the mole (as it is bleeding)

3. If not separated properly then your doctor can remove it by surgical excision or shave.

4. Take analgesics & apply petroleum jelly (Vaseline) to the wound 3-5 times a day & keep the wound always covered.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
