What Is The Treatment For Paintball Bruise In Arm?

My son was hit with a paintball yesterday in the arm from a few feet away. It looked like a typical paintball bruise, dime size, hot pink/magenta. He just came home from school and now it feels taught and there is a brownish purple ring that is about 1/2" away from it and surrounds the bruise. It's a few millimeters in width. Should I be worried?
