What Is The Treatment For Pain And Swelling In The Arm?
Hello, my Husband 63 years old fell over a cord today , he fell hard trying to stop himself from continuing down the staircase. Besides hurting his pride and knee, bruising some fingertips the biggest problem is his right arm. We are not sure how he hurt it, because in the end he was on his left side, but he has a rather large mass just above the elbow on the inside. Makes him look rather pumped. But it is very pain full when he tries to extend it. I have put a sling on him and given him advil for pain, both help but should we be doing more ? Thank you for your help

From description it seems to be soft tissue injury . Large lump might be due to haematoma formation(collection of blood).
He need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury.
I suggest him to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. He may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.Beside icing and elevating it, he can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid lifting weight and rest well.
