Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
The popping sensation that you had while doing the exercise is likely to be due to a muscle tear. You need to provide adequate rest to the area. Icing and talking mild pain killers with muscle relaxants will help.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
