Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I took Tylenol Cold & Flu on an empty stomach this morning (12 hours ago) and it upset my stomach. Just a moment ago I used the restroom and after I pooped there was a large amount of blood. The blood didn't seem to be in my stool and it seemed to have came from my rectum. The poop I had was diarrhea. I have not used an objects in my rectum, nor do I have anal sex. It was a random event and I am worried. I am not sure the medicine has anything to do with it. I have never had this much blood before.
I really appreciate your concern, melena (Blood stain stool) demands great attention as long as diagnosis and investigations are concern but the most common cause are fissures, hemorrhoid, beside this numbers of reasons are there that includes infection, systemic disease, malignancy. I would suggest for differentiation and for that clinical examination is the option, if this is due to constipation then no need to worry about this, drink more water, have fiber containing diet once the constipation relieved it will be fine.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain Shaikh
