What Is The Treatment For Bad Vaginal Odor?

Hello, I ve had unusually strong (in my opinion) vaginal odor lately. It s a recent thing and I haven t changed underwear, clothes, or medication. Only symptoms are the odor and my discharge is a little yellow. There was some itching but that has passed. Originally I thought it was a yeast infection but the discharge is not chunky and after research it sounds like odor is not normal with a yeast infection. My last sexual partner was in January. I bought Monistat 3 but I m worried this May not be the right treatment and may upset the balance further. Help!

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query. Your symptoms suggest that you are probably experiencing bacterial infection of the vagina. In this scenario, you need to have a proper clinical evaluation, get a vaginal and cervical swab along with urinalysis to plan further management. Your sexual partner also may need to be examined and treated. Do not douche or use strong soap solutions. Do not use tampons. Maintain proper genital hygiene. Hope this helps.
