Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

Swelling in the feet and legs can be normal in pregnancy can be normal, but swelling of one leg and pain can be the symptom of a dangerous condition that is common in pregnant woman, called a DVT. A DVT is a clot in a vein in your leg that can back up blood in your leg, which can cause pain and swelling.

The reason a DVT is dangerous is that a piece of the clot can break off and be transported to your lungs, which can be fatal.

So I recommend you seek a medical evaluation immediately. At the hospital they can do a test to check for a clot in your leg. If you have one you my have to stay in the hospital to be treated with blood thinners. If you do not have a clot, they can figure out why you are so swollen and also help treat you.

I hope you follow my advice and go to the hospital for evaluation promptly.

Best wishes, Dr. Brown
