What Is The Solution For Swelling And Pain In Leg And Wound On Toes In Diabetic Patient?

Hi Dr Samuel, I am diabetic, since 2000. but now my random reading is 170 about. Also, I had suffered mild heart attack in 2008. I am a smoker, my problem is. My right leg ( toes ) is having swelling and it is painful. I have also some wound in my toes. The local vascular doctor says their is no blood circulation. I am also taking 2 tablets of CILOSTAZOL 100 MG and WARFARIN 5 MG and other cardio tablets. Pls dvise me, My foot will be amputated ? Shall I go to see the doctor ? or what other advice do U think is the best ? Awaiting for kind advice. Thanx & rgds / Sanjay

Dear sir

All these problems will occur in patients with diabetes when they are associated with microvascular complications such as neuropathy and microangiopathy

There will be defective peripheral circulation due to atherosclerosis, which increases the risk of development of non healing ulcers which might be dangerous if there is any combined infection.

Secondly what best you can do is to continue the same modality of treatment what you are continuing.

You can start using detoxifying foot patches which will decrease the oxidative stress and improve the peripheral circulation.

Before going for decision to amputate, it is better for you to get angiographic view of the vasculature of foot, if there is critical narrowing of the arteries then there might be chances of doing bypass surgery.
