What Is The Solution For Severe Itching On Scalp?

I have severe itching on , my head...I have yhis prob frm past 6 yewrs....I cudnot control...I j6z want to pluck my hair for my satisfaction... Its not itching everywhere on head ..in particular area am gtting..and I pluck out my haire ovr there...hairs are also vry esily coming..plz suggest some medicine...

Hi,

It seems that you may be having scalp prurigo. There may be papular eruptions on scalp and those are severely itchy. The cause may be psychological upsets. There may be dandruff. You consult dermatologist for firm diagnosis. I usually prescribe antihistaminics like levocetirizine 5 mg in morning and hydroxyzine HCL 25 mg at night. Short and tappering course of steroid is also advised. Local application of mild steroid lotion would be helpful. Ketoconazole shampoo may used to cleanse the scalp. Psychological evaluation may be done by your doctor.
