What Is The Remedy For Wheezing, Shortness Of Breath And Dry Cough?

I am 70, have been diagnosed with Asthma a few years ago, but I have no wheezing, no sputum, no shortness of breath except when I walk and talk at the same time, but that may be due to my two leaky heart valves. The only symptom of asthma is a chronic, dry cough. Singulair does nothing for me. I guess I m going to have to go with a steroidal inhaler, but would like to know which ones are best so I can ask my pulmonologist to prescribe it when I see him tomorrow. I m also going to start a 30-day treatment with Prilosec to see if I have LPR. Your thoughts............Thanks!

Hi

Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum

I doubt any allergic condition causing dry. I do completely agree with you regarding LPR. This is the commonest condition to cause dry cough in elderly, because of constant regurgitation of the acid due to weak lower esoph's heal sphincter.

Below mentioned are few inhalers for your asthma:
Advair (a combination drug that includes a steroid and a long-acting bronchodilator)
Flovent
Pulmicort
Symbicort (a combination drug that includes a steroid and a long-acting bronchodilator drug)
