What Is The Remedy For Eating Disorder?

hi. I am 17 years old, and I ve struggled with an eating disorder in the past (yes, my parents know). And because of it, my hair has thinned. I was wondering if it is safe to take Biotin. I ve heard that it helps with hair and nail growth. I know that it is available at the local drug store, over the counter. I was wondering what dosage to take.

Hello and thanks for your query,

Eating disorders can result in a lot of physical complications. Thin or brittle hair and nails is an indicator of severe nutritional deficiency.

So, the first thing that you should do is to set right your eating habits so that your body gets the necessary nutrition, including vitamins and ninerals.

Regarding Biotin, it can help in hair growth and it is safe to take up to 600mcg per day.

But please remember that in your case there may be many other vitamin deficiencies also which could be responsible for the unhealthy hair and nails. So, I would also suggest that you take a multivitamin supplement.

If you have not seen a doctor so far for your eating disorder, it is essential that you see a doctor and get professional help.
