What Is The Recommended Target Blood Glucose Level Range For Type 2 Diabetes?

Sir, I would like to that my wife her age is 46 yrs and she has blood sugar report fasting 118 and post breakfast is121. Dr. is saying that u have type 2 diabitie and u have to take medicine, sir, I would like ur kind advise in this regards. Thanking u, Regards, Ramesh prasad

Thanks for posting on HCM
A fasting blood sugar of 118 can not make us to conclude that you are diabetic or place you on treatment.The cut-off value is 126 and must be had on two different occasions before you are declared diabetic.A value of 118 is high normal also called glucose intolerance.Even if diabetic, initial treatment is not always with drugs unless very high blood glucose values.If i were your Doctor, I will rather suggest she goes on the following measures:
-Regular exercise
-See a nutritionist for nutritional advise.
