What Is The Reason For The Lump On The Side Of The Bug Toe Which Is Not Bruised Nor Sore?

I have some type of lump/bump on the side of & near the cuticle of my big toe. Its extremely painful. Haven't hit my toe on anything & there doesn't appear to be any redness, pus nor is the nail growing into it. What can it be or what I can I do to stop it?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,

I read your query and understood your concern.

The condition you described sounds like paronychia. It is infection around the nail folds. Take oral anti inflammatory like ibuprofen for immediate relief in pain. Consult your physician to get oral antibiotics prescribed like cephalexin.

Apply warm compresses over the area 4-5 times a day for 2-3 minutes

Hope I helped
