Hello,

Welcome to HCM and thank you for the query.
The indication for Bariatric surgery ( sleeve gastrectomy) is one of them is obesity with Body Mass Index (BMI) of more than 40 or more than 35 with a serious health problem linked to obesity. Such health problems could be type 2 diabetes, heart disease, or severe sleep apnea (when breathing stops for short periods during sleep).
You can calculate your BMI from your height and weight . It is weight in Kilograms dividied by square of height in meters. There are many sites that will calculate this online for you.
If you have further query, I am available.
Best wishes,
Dr Noble Zachariah
