Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 14 year old daughter who has been having bloody stools for the past month, it started three months ago and then it stop. She has it back again. I took her to a GI specialist and all blood work was done, stool specimen done, negative for cdiff. ANA came back high. They suggest a colonoscopy. Isn't she too young for a colonoscopy?
Well come to HCM
Thank for asking
It is not the age that matter but the disease matters the great, if the child is having, hisotry of blood stain stool and othre investigativ reports beside the colonoscpoy are not helping then colonoscopy is necessary and it can be done at this age without any fear, moreover the doctor may takes great care for the procedure so it is nothing to worry, but such investigation may clear the diagnosis, hope this information helps.
