What Is The Medication To Increase Hemoglobin Count During 35th Week Of Pregnancy?
Hi Doctor. I am 35 weeks pregnant. My due date is 11th of feb. My hb is 8.6 which is low. I don't take Iron tablets because I get severely constipated. I've discussed this with my gynae and still she doesn't give me any other alternative to increase my hb%. Pls tell me a solution to increase me hb level as my due date is really close. And is it safe to take mom plus(laxative) for constipation.?
Hi, Mom plus cannot be used in pregnancy; you can try lactulose instead. To improve your anemia at this stage, you can be considered for injectible medication or blood transfusion if you have other associated symptoms. Since you have moderate anemia, injections should suffice. Also, improve dietary intake of fiber through consumption of plenty of greens, whole fruits, and adequate water. If you have no other contraindication, a little walk everyday would be helpful. You can take a medium piece of jaggery everyday as it is rich in iron and also does not cause constipation. Hope this helps.
