What Is The Medication For Bump On The Back Of Throat?

Hello. I have had a raised bump on the back of my throat for months now, behink the uvula and up a bit to one side. It s about a cm or larger and pink. I asked my dentist to check it out when she did an oral exam a few weeks ago but she didn t see it. I ve been concerned and don t know if it could be something serious. I am not sure how long the bump has been there.

Hello,

You are having raised bumps on the back of the throat. Bumps on the back of the throat are indicative of bacterial infection, a common cold, a viral infection, or even an allergic reaction. You should gargle your throat with salt water 2-3 times regularly. Avoid taking spicy or hot food. Take liquid or semi solid food so that you don't strain your throat.

Take antihistamines to control symptoms of allergy. You can take a course of antibiotics (Augmentin or Doxycycline) to get relief. Take plenty of water and adequate rest. Get clinically examined by an ENT, get all required tests and investigations done. You will be treated accordingly. Stay away from addictions if any. Take care of your oral hygiene.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
