Hi,
Thanks for the query.
I understand that your daughter underwent and encirclage surgery. I am pretty sure that when she went for a check up the doctor meant
amniotic fluid and not cervical fluid as there is no terminology called cervical fluid.
The amniotic fluid is the fluid surrounding the baby that cushions it and also helps the baby provide space for movement. If it becomes low than the baby cannot move properly. Also it is associated with certain issues like the decreased growth of the baby and decreased
oxygen to the baby. Also it is not clear from your question if the low fluid was commented on examination of the abdomen alone or after doing a complete ultrasound?
But since it is early and the fluid is only a bit on the lower side, I suggest you get an ultrasound if the
pregnancy is more than 24 weeks and look for amount of fluid if it has not been done. sometimes abdominal examination will give an ambiguous result as it is affected various conditions like abdominal fat and uterine contractions etc. so ultrasound will provide better results.
Measures to correct amniotic fluid, drink plenty of oral fluids. Oral hydration therapy is drinking 2 litre of fluid in 1 hour once during the day and continuing to take your routine daily fluid in addition to this, done every alternate day. Other measures are giving intravenous fluids in hospitals but the results are similar to oral fluids. L
arginine sachets are also used to increase the fluid. I suggest that you discuss all this with your doctor and confirm if it was amniotic or cervical fluid.
Do not worry, let your daughter rest in the left or right side as much as possible and drink plenty of liquids and she will not have any problems.
Hope I was able to help you. Thanks for using Health Care Magic.
I would be happy to answer any further queries.
Have a nice day.
