What Is The Lump On My Shin?

I slipped getting on a train, caught my shin and knee between the train and the platform and sustained heavy bruising, no muscle or ligament damage as after the initial shock, was able to walk fine. However, there is a bit on my shin that has a solid lump, its still showing a light brown bruise and although still not painful when walking, if I press down on the lump it is practically numb with a slight tingling and it is pretty solid, it is right on the shin bone - slightly concerned that maybe i chipped the bone or something? Any idea what this might be and if it will go away on its own or should i be worried?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

With your description, there does not appear to be any bony injury. It is likely to be a blood clot which is healing. During the healing process, it changes colour and it might take a few weeks to heal. Numbness will recover gradually.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Gopal Goel, Orthopaedic Surgeon
