What Is The Life Expectancy For A Patient With Cardiomegaly?

Thank you. I am a 45 year-old male. Have had uncontrolled hypertension for years. Have had TIAs, symptoms of heart failure for 4 years but not diagnosed by health provider, Kaiser Permanente. Cardiomegaly and LVH with abnormal secondary repolarization. What would you estimate my life expectancy?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, life expectancy can not be determined by mere history or diagnosis. Much data is needed for a possible comment of life expectancy as:
- Cardiac output and contractility
- Current medications
- EKG changes
- Oxygen saturation and pulmonary function status
- Co-morbid conditions such as diabetes
- Risk factors of atherosclerosis such as smoking, history of stroke or DVT
- Host response to medications
- Kidney function status
- Immunity and generalised well being

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
