What Is The Grey Matter In My Bowel Movement?

I ve had constipation for quite a while. Last week I had a colonoscopy . Results are inconclusive. I ve been taking ex lax and having soft stool movement. Today with a soft bowel movement I noticed a bit of grey matter, not much in my stool. I was told to get a barium enema test which is set up for naxt week, but I m very concerned now that I ve seen the grey substance.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of constipation for a wile, inconclusive colonoscopy and taking ex lax which gives you soft loose stools.
Barium enema is planned for, noticed a grey matter in the stool.
I would advise you the following:
You should have sent that part of the stool for investigations and continue to give stool sample for tests for the next 2 more days.
Continue to take the laxative.
Do not be much concerned about the partly grey stool, this can be an undigested part of some food you took yesterday or so.
I find this answer helpful
