What Is The Difference Between Calcium Medication And Calcium Supplements?

Hi could you please tell me the difference between calcium treatment medication as oppose to calcium supplements ( iam assuming one is for prevention of calcium deficiency related problems while the other is used to cure an ailment from calcium deficiency) ?
