Can Hip Pain Be Caused By Straining For A Bowel Movement?

What is the probable cause of severe hip pain after excessive straining to have a bowel movement? The pain is in the right flank and is excruciating, especially when abdominal muscles ate used (rising from resting position ). I have a low bone density from osteoporosis so I wonder if it s more likely muscle or bone

Your symptoms could be suggestive of a breakage in the coxofemoral articulation. For this reason, I recommend going to the ER for a physical exam and performing a coxofemoral joint X-ray study.
