my father name md amin age 68 yrs has been suffering from kidney 20 % damage cretaine is 1.60 he also have positive culture in urine report and he is also suffering from dibateties since 14 yrs for which doctor has prescribed navorapid and basalog insulin so please help what food he can eat as day by day he is losing his weight The medicine which he is taking now is nexiron o,neurokind,shelac tc,renalog. He left to take nefrosave as he had taken for a month and nifty and in his culture report the sensitive medicine is nitrofurantoin. please help for urea patient with dibaties suffering from kidney diseases too.

Hello and thanks for your question. For diabetics the key thing to limit is carbohydrates. That means limiting sweets and starches like bread, pasta, potatoes and rice. It does not mean he can't eat them just that he needs to eat small portions. For kidney disease you want to limit protein. This means cutting down on meats and other sources of protein like nuts and eggs. He can eat fruits and vegetables and limited lean meats. He needs his doctor to check kidney and glucose tests regularly.
