What Is The Cause Of Stiffness, Redness, And Pain In Ankle Despite Elevation And Ice Treatment?

Four weeks ago my right ankle became stiff, red, and painful. It feels as if someone has a branding iron they keep applying to my ankle bones. It is very sensitive to touch, swollen and extremely painful when I walk. It swells a lot if I do not keep it elevated. It pretty much 24/7
. I find it hard to get comfortable and to slee[p because of the steady pain.

My doctor took x-rays four weeks ago at the start of this problem and advised I have severe arthritis. To alternate putting heat and ice on the joint, stay off of it as much as possible. I have tried these recommendations and have found litttle relief. Any ideas as to what is wrong with this ankle. This came on fast. I have had arirthritis in this joint for years due to numerous injuries to it when I was a teen.

Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
It appears to be the arthritis of the ankle joint, or may be the filariasis infection.
I advise you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.
I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms neurotropic injections for 10 consecutive days, ofloxacin, mefenamic acid, paracetamol, and diethyl carbamazine citrate.
Avoid taking potato other tubers, tomato, egg, chicken, and sea foods.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
