What Is The Cause Of Knee Pain During Menstruation Inspite Of Taking Painkillers?
When I am on my period my knees start hurting. Even if i lay down, or anything. This has been going on for a couple of months. I have tried using pain killers, but I don't like the idea of taking them whenever I am on period and my knees hurt. Is this normal?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Lower abdominal pain is common during menstruation and is called dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea may start before the onset of menstruation and can continue for initial 1-2 days of the menstrual cycle. The pain can be controlled by taking anti-spasmodics. Mefenemic acid is a preparation commonly prescribed for dysmenorrhea. The knee pain is unlikely to be associated with menstrual cycles. There knee pain seems to be unassociated with the menstrual cycles. You need to consult your orthopedician for clinical examination of the knee and thus management.
