What Is The Cause And Treatment For Pressure In Throat?

Hey, I have had a feeling of pressure on my throat on and off for the past two months. Went to the doctor and tried treating for acid reflux with no discernible change. I passed several tonsil stones about a week ago and my tonsils were very sore and swollen for several days before and after. Since then I ve had lots of canker sores around the lining of my mouth. A large white one is right under my tongue, swelling one of the ridges up. I thought that one might be a stone in my gland at first, but i wasn t able to get it out with sterilized tweezers. I ve been feeling chronic tiredness for the past several months as well. Got blood tests done including mono. All came back within normal limits with negative mono. Currently have 3 or 4 raised, hard bumps that I can feel with my tongue...behind tonsil where it connects to throat. Can t visualize. I was a hard core tobacco chewer for 3 years (1 can a day). I quit for good 52 days ago. Also have been feeling an ache in my chest occasionally. Already talked to doctor about this a month ago. I m a 23 year old male. Based on this information, does anyone have an opinion on whether I m just having a serious breakdown with my immune system function, or should I get more testing done/see an ENT specialist for throat pressure and other issues?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
HI,

There is no age criteria for malignancy to happen and espl with tobaco habits and that too in such a large quantity.

Further from your history it looks like you have some problem with your tonsils known as kerotosis, which though beningn coule be a premalignant lesion in long run, however no strong scientific data.

But each human body beahves and responds differently for an insult with it. General Advise:

1. Strictly say "NO" to tobaco

2. Observe strict oral and food hygeine.

3. Clear throat frequently with antiseptic gargles

4. Eat healthy and nutritious food.

5. Do not dring hard drinks like alchohol and avoid propriotery soft drinks too. Next Step:

1. Get yoursef evaluated for the current problem with an ENT specialist

2. Get tonsills removed and have it biopsied for histopathology.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
