What Is The Cause And Treatment For Insomnia?

I m 20 years old (female) I ve been having issues getting to sleep, staying asleep through the night, and then waking up in the morning...no matter how long I sleep I m still exhausted. My anxiety has worsened (10x worse) in the last couple months, I get EVERY illness that I halfway come in contact with, I rarely feel like eating, and despite not being able to eat much and exercising more than usual I am still gaining weight (mostly in my midsection) it doesn t make sense...any time before this I would have lost weight at an unhealthy rate from the way I am right now but instead I m slowly gaining... Pluz (not sure if its related at all) I have eczema that seems to be spreading and my face is breaking out like crazy and even when i was 16 i didnt have much of a problem with acne.

Hello mam, I did review your concern. Trouble falling asleep and feeling exhausted can be due to multiple reasons- organic or something related to our mind. we see many patients in routine with problems like yours. I would suggest you to meet a doctor preferrably a endocrinologist and/or a psychiatrist since, it could be a thyroid problem especially with the gaining weight problem you are having. Also, another reason could be sleep apnea obstructive or central type which can be detected by a sleep physician better in detail. Meanwhile I would advice you some suggestions on good sleep habits-
1) cut down coffee/stimulants intake if you are taking a lot, esp in evenings.
2)Go to bed only when you feel excessively tired and sleepy. dont do laptops and tvs on bed. its a major cause of sleep initiation problem in youth these days.
3)exercise in evening or morning, but not just before you sleep.
4)Dont eat extremely heavy meals just before you sleep.
I hope this helps. Do let me know if you have any more questions or concerns. I will be more than happy to help you.
wish you a healthy life ahead.
