What Is The Cause And Treatment For Constipation?

hello Doctor, my grandfather, 82 years old, having problem with his defecation. He took high fibers diet but still complaining that he has constipation. Besides, he drink half can of evaporated milk with tea everyday. So, does high intake of evaporated milk effect our intestinal function? Thanks

the most important cause for constipation problems in selderly is due to weakness of the muscles responsible for defecation and decreased intestinal motility. which leads to hardened stools. another reason is less intake of food.

it has to be managed by intake of high fiber diet as he is having now
some may need medications like laxatives which help in smoothing the fecal matter
hope this explains. i dont think that evaporated milk will affect intestinal motility
