What Is The Cause And Treament For Red Lumps Inside The Finger?

red pumps I have red pumps that itch like crazy and are very painful to the touch all over the inside of my palms and fingers. They also prune up 100 times worse when they are under water, then they peel like two or three layers of skin off daily. What could this possibly be?

Hi,

It sounds like 'swimmer's itch', an immune reaction of the allergic type. Reason is an infection by water-borne schistosomes. Symptoms, which include itchy, raised papules, commonly occur within 1–2 days of infection and can last up to weeks. Standard treatment are orally administered OTC-antihistamines. In addition baking soda baths or salted water can also help the healing process. If it gets worse of doesn’t go away after 2-3 weeks, see your GP.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Marius Lazar, Dermatologist
