What Is Maximum Permissible Post Prandial Blood Sugar Level During Pregnancy?

Hi,

I am in my 30th week pregnancy... I would like to know what is the maximum permissable Post prandial blood sugar levels. My readings always vary from 112- 170 mg/dl [1hr PPBS]. Please suggest. I have been put on Glucomet... is this tablet intake safe for my baby? Please suggest!

Hello and welcome,

It is advisable to keep the levels below 140 and the maximum level is 160. Levels above this indicate a poor control and are not good for the baby.

Glucomet is currently being used as it was not shown to have any adverse effects on the baby. However the safest therapy is insulin. So discuss these with your doctor. Try to modify your diet still further and also try to add exercise to your routine to lower the sugar levels.

With these measures you will be alright.
