What Is Interrupted Flow During Urination Suggestive Of?
Hi doctor 1st of all let me thank u for giving opportunity, to ask u online. I feel quite healthy, but only issue I face is while urinating I feel it s not flowing out as fast as before. 1st it pains and then slowly starts and takes long time to finish due to slow speed through out end. Is it showing some symptom???
You have not written your age. Men over the age of 50 years develop urinary outflow symptoms, which in the majority of cases is due to benign enlargement of the prostate gland, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The gland gradually enlarges with advancing age, and this enlargement can cause pressure on the urethra which runs from the bladder to the outside restricting the flow of urine. Another cause of urinary flow restriction is a stricture in the urethra as a result of inflammatory scarring, perhaps as a result of a previous infection or operative catheterization. Advice 1. Consult your surgeon and get a per rectal examination for prostate enlargement. Do not delay seeking help, as there is much evidence that early treatment with medication can prevent worsening of the problem, and delays the need for surgery 2. Investigations – blood prostate specific antigen (PSA), rectal ultrasound Thanks!
