What Is Causing Headache?

I was treated for Sepsis due to a UTI. I was given IVs for three days of Rochephin and one injection for 10 days after returning home. Everyday since and while in the hospital I have had an intense headache. Culture now show that the infection was not sensitive to Rochcephin. I now have 1 colony of resistant enteraccocus and it it not being treated. My head will not quit hurting. Is the headache from the Sepsis? Thank You

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello!
I read your question and understand your concern.
Headache can be caused by sepsis , in cases of meningitis or septic embolism to the brain causing brain abscesses. It is not very common. But in both the situation headache would be associated with other symptoms like fever, stiff neck , nausea, numbess of the limbs or seizures.
Taking Rocephin may cause headache, but in cases of prolonged treatment , and you refer to have taken only for 13 days.
In my opinion this can be a New daily headache or a tension type, but we should exclude the above mentioned possible causes of secondary headache.
So I recommend you to consult with a neurologist, have a good neurological examination and have other tests like a full blood work and a brain CT scan, if necessary.
Hope to have been helpful!
Best wishes, Dr. Abaz Quka
