Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Typhoid fever starts from the later part that is
terminal ileum a part of
small intestine and then spreads to the whole body.
Since the small intestine is inflamed, it is susceptible to secondary infection or super growth of other bacteria once you are getting the antibiotic cover for typhoid and hence you are most probably getting the green colored stools.
Nothing much to worry.
• Ask your Doctor to have clinical review and stool tests.
• Change over to another antibiotic active against both the typhoid and opportunistic bacteria.
• Also needed are probiotics, multivitamins, and other symptomatic and supportive medications.
• Be under observation of your doctor to see for the progress till full recovery, which is usually 3 weeks of treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
