i heard people saying that a friend of mine has COD. I would like to know what does it mean. he is very, very organize and clean. takes every little thing to personal and sometimes gets really angry if things are not like he planed or thought it was going to be. thanks.
Hello.......
Thanks for your query. OCD stands for obsessive compulsive disorder which is an anxiety disorder characterised by repetitive, recurrent, intrusive thoughts/ images that may be associated with repeated ritualistic acts like hand washing. It is very distressing considering that patient realises what he is doing is absurd.The treatment consists of:
1. Anti-obsessive drugs like SSRIs
2. Psychotherapy techniques like ERP/Exposure and response prevention
He needs to be compliant on medication and reular in his follow up. Wish him good health.

Hello;
Welcome to HealthcareMagic,
Here I guess your friend probably has OCD or what is called Obsessive-compulsive disorder.
It is an anxiety disorder in which people have obsessions like unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations, that make them feel compelled to do something.
If your friend has this disorder he can consult a Psychiatrist for counselling and if needed he may start on medicines for the same.
Take care.
Thanks
