What Is Monavie Diet Plan ?

I've been approached by someone with the MonaVie diet plan - do you know anything about this product and if it is safe - especially for someone who is a diabetic and has high blood pressure. Also my husband has had a heart attach many years ago and anything with caffiene can get his heart to race.

Welcome to HCM,
Congratulations on making the decision to lose weight! I am not convinced that these meal replacement plans with shakes that don't teach you how to eat for life to keep any weight lost off permanently are the best approach for anyone.

You, for example, have diabetes. These products are very high in carbohydrates and I can't tell which form as the label is not on the website. If it has anything ending with an -ose in it then there is sugar and not the appropriate plan for you.

I don't see anything in this plan that will complicate your husband's caffeine intolerance or high blood pressure, but again, no labels on the website.

The product line places a great deal of faith in the acai berry for weight loss yet there is no evidence this berry helps in any manner with weight loss. It does have a high level of antioxidants and may be beneficial for the heart, but not weight. So, based on this, I would not put my overall faith in this approach.

Have you ever consulted with a Dietitian for an appropriate family meal plan that takes everyones medical condition into consideration? It might be worth the trip to work with a Dietitian to take those pounds off safely, successfully and for the long term.

I wish you the best of luck. Sincerely, Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
