What Is Cetirizine Prescribed For?

I received Cetirizine 10mg after going to doctor for head cold, probably caused by a flare up of allergies. I forgot what the main reason was for the cetirizine? And, is it a generic name of another type of allergy medicine, such as Singular? Thank you!
