What Indicates Swelling And Tenderness Of Vaginal And Anus Area Soon After Sex?

I have genital herpes and I am on valtrex daily suppression therapy. Frequently after sex the area between my vagina and anus swells and becomes tender. It doesn t seem like a herpes outbreak though because there are no sores or itchiness and there is no pain when urinating. I have had outbreaks before, and the symptoms are different. This only happens after sex. Could it simply be irritation/inflammation or is it just a different type of outbreak?

It could probably be an irritation. Some times even friction with the male genitals can lead to such redness and tenderness. You may apply lacto calamine lotion over the area and try to keep the area dry and clean. It is not to worry. It will settle down on its own.
