What Exercises Can Be Done After Myomectomy?

I had a myomectomy on the 28th of April and had bleeding until 12 days after the surgery. I used to do lots of cardio workouts (jump rope, burpees), running, swimming and yoga before the surgery, and am wondering what exercises I should be doing now and what to avoid. Thanks!

Hi welcome To HCm
No strenuous exercise or i for 4-6 weeks
You may start walking for exercise on day 1
Walking is the best activity following surgery. You can walk up and down stairs, outside, and on a treadmill, but gently . Walking will keep your circulation going and build back your stamina.
Fatigue – fatigue is extremely common after surgery and may last many weeks . So resting in between the activities help recoup your energy.

After surgery, the deep abdominal muscles are seriously weakened and inactivated and need to be retrained to allow reduction/ceasing of back pain and activation and tone of the stomach area.
So The best way to address this first and foremost is to train the muscles from a static (non-moving) method. This is called ‘isometric’ training and involves the muscles working without changing length.

On a DAILY basis you need to be training your deepest abdominal muscles so practice the 'drawing-in manoeuvre' as often as you remember. You can do this anywhere and it is great to do when you're in a car or at a desk simply start by taking a breath in and as you do, draw your belly button in towards spine. You should feel a tension develop in your midrift (like you have put a belt on!), then as you breathe out, keep your belly button drawn towards your spine and breathe normally. Hold the tension for as long as you remember, although it won’t be long to start with.
- Keep consciously trying to squeeze your stomach muscles on the way DOWN! If they relax on the way down your back will have to get involved! Try not to let your stomach muscles relax for the WHOLE set!

Avoid foods that cause gas such as broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts tea coffee alcohol .
Walking helps bowel function .Take balanced diet containing essential Nutrients- ginger , garlic ,lemon juicein a glass of water with little salt and pinch of black pepper and honey for instant energy and fulfill iron deficiency ,green veges ,juicy fruit to enhance your energy level and boost recovery . Soon you will be able to do your work outs , but of course under the expert guidance .
I would recommend that for optimum results you get support from a well-qualified fitness professional.

Hope this helps solves your query .Take care , All the best .Wish Get well soon .
Don't hesitate to get back tf have any further query .
