What Does This Ultrasound Test Result During Pregnancy Indicate?
.I had an ultrasound at 29weeks they were measuring lateral ventricles max 10.1mm then I had a fetal MRI...Results as follows: mild dilatation is noted at lateral ventricles(maximum diameter8mm). the 3 rd and 4rd ventricular diameter are normal. middle-stractures of brain are normal. cerebral hemispheres and posterior fossa show normal appearance and there is no avidence of major CNS anormaly.there are no open spina bifida. I don t know how concerned we should be, can you please advise.....also US showed that the head is 2 weeks ahead!!
As per my surgical experience, the dilated lateral ventricle with normal 3rd and 4th ventricles may indicate obstruction at the junction of lateral ventricle and 3rd ventricle from various reasons.
A detailed study with ventriculogram would be of best evaluation ahead.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
