What Does This Ultrasound Test Result During Pregnancy Indicate?

Hi doctor, Im 37 weeks,5 days pregnant My last 4 ultrasound report showed a single loop of cord seen across the fetal neck. Is this emergency situation. Dangerous for baby life? Should i opt for C-sec & immediately delivery? Or i can wait Regards: Nidhi

Hello

Umbilical cord around the fetal neck is not a very serious finding.
It is usually not dangerous for baby's life.
This is a manageable condition.
There are chances of spontaneous unwinding with advancement of pregnancy.
Normal deliver is possible even with cord around neck, this condition only require extra caution.
If there is fetal distress during delivery then emergency cesarean section(C/S)can be done.
There are chances of unwinding of single loose loop,so don't take much stress.
