General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for your query
Am glad that you have recovered.

I would like some clarification.
1) do you mean to say that it took around 3 months for you to get the results of your blood tests?
2)were you a known diabetic, hypertensive or hyperlipidemic person? If so, were you on treatment.? Are you overweight? If
3)do you have a first degree relative with any of those problems?
4)did you mention all this(if the answer to any of the above is yes) to your doctor?

To answer your question, treatment with medications to lower cholesterol along with lifestyle and diet modifications should have been initiated. A consult and discussion about the plan of treatment was necessary.
Additionally, screening for other risk factors and addressing them is necessary.

Whether it could have prevented the attack or reduced the severity? I can't say. Hindsight is 20/20. Lot of extraneous factors as to why it took so long for the result to be intimated, your previous and family history, associated diseases all play a role.

Hope I've helped.
wish you good health
