What Does This Alkaline Phosphatase Level In Blood Indicate?

I am a 65yo male with a 210 ALP level. I ko not have more than two drinks in a day, if at all. Most days I go without! Is this high level. something I should be VERY concerned about. My doctor wants me back near the end of September, no alcohol for a few days before retest.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in HCM.
Alkaline phosphatase level is elevated as the upper limit is 140 IU/L. This is due to mild liver dysfunction and could be caused due to alcohol intake.
Alcoholic liver disease is diagnised best by estimating Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) in serum. Also you need to get an Ultrasound scan done to see for fatty changes in the liver.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
Wish you good health.
